Go Lions!

Last night was the first home soccer game for Linn-Mar in the brand new stadium! There has been a lot of talk, even on the news, about this new stadium. The boys played Xavier. Kevin's team, the fresh/soph team won 1 to 0. Yippee! Even though I only taught at St. Jude and La Salle for a year I still feel like I have a connection to Xavier. However, it's been so long I don't think I would recognize my kids there anymore! The varsity team lost in a shoot out, regulation score was 1 to 1 but Xavier edged out the lines with a shootout score of 3 to 1, which makes the final score 2 to 1 in favor of the Saints. Despite the shootout loss Kevin says they played very well. The girls and I didn't make it to see that game. In fact about 15 minutes was long enough, ha ha.

It was in the 50's and cloudy all day yesterday but being home bound we decided to go for it. I knew the girls wouldn't stay long and planned for it. It started to rain after we got there so the 50's turned pretty chilly with the wind. I think Ellie only really cared about her popcorn!

These are the shirts I made for the girls since the school doesn't sell tiny shirts!

Ellie is excited about her popcorn :)

The nice, new stadium!

Here is Ellie sticking her chest out so everyone sees her shirt while she yells, "Go Lions! Tell 'em Daddy!" She always thinks Kevin will be playing so I was trying to explain to a 3 year old what a coach does.

Brrr, it's starting to get a little chilly!

We waited for Kevin to come and see us after the fresh/soph game. By the time he came up the varsity was starting to warm up. As a surprise to us the head coach of the varsity team got warm up t-shirts printed to show their support of our family and Ellie! What a sweet and special surprise. The boys are going to wear them all season. Here are the white shirts with a PURPLE 3. Ahhhhh. Thank you so much, Corey!

And here is what the front looks like. It's hard to tell here, but they are purple Ellie's favorite color.

We wish the Linn-Mar boys the best of luck with the rest of their season. Go Lions and go Daddy!

  2. The varsity team shirts are awesome, as are Ellie and Katelyn's! I love watching sports with Ellie, sounds like soccer is going the same as football -- whoever she's there to watch does all the work and popcorn is super important :)
