Ice Skating Adventure

We’d been thinking about taking Ellie ice-skating all winter. Then of course watching the skaters at the Olympics spin Ellie thought she could go and skate on one foot! Maybe eventually but no time too soon, haha.

Her first trip to the ice rink on Sunday was pretty good. If you ask her she had lots of fun with her “ice skating’s” on. We were surprised she could actually walk on the rubber floor in the skates before heading out onto the ice. Oh, and the fact that they had skates small enough for her tiny feet was pretty amazing, too! While walking she kept her ankles straight and did really well! Of course getting out on the slippery ice was another story.

At first she wan’t sure what to think. She just kept saying, “WooooOOOOAAAhhhhh” and “Help, Daddy!!”. We chuckled and kept going.

Poor Daddy was bent over the entire hour we were there. Luckily, being pregnant I got out of that part ;)

By the time we were ready to call it quits (or should I say Daddy’s back was ready to call it quits) Ellie could stand up on the ice without being held up! Quite an accomplishment for her first time. Now if we could just get her to lean forward instead of backward while she goes. There’s always next time!

  1. Heidi- So cute! What fun! Ellie looks like she had a great time. That is awesome that she did so good her first time! Isn't it amazing to think how long it took for our kiddos to walk, and look at them now! :) Way to go Ellie!

  2. Heidi,

Those pictures are priceless and Ellie looks absolutely adorable in her little pink snowsuit! Maybe you've got a future Olympic skater on your hands!
