Baby Check & Big Girl Bed

I had my OB check-up today and am in my 15th week of pregnancy. I have gained 4 pounds total now and have a tiny little belly to show for it. Things do pop out faster the second time around. I think every woman that has more than one child has told me that so far and I do agree! Baby’s heart rate was 155 today. I love to hear that whooshing sound of the heartbeat, it never gets old. I will go again February 10th for another quick check before my appointments in Iowa City the 18th.

In preparation for Baby we got Ellie’s big girl bed all set up last week. We wanted to get her used to it in plenty of time before the baby arrives, one huge change at a time! She kept telling us she didn’t want a big girl bed but I don’t think she really understood the concept.

Ellie was over Daddy’s shoulder “helping” to put it together and about jumped out of her skin with excitement once it was all ready. She ran from one end to the other (something that we only allowed the first night!). The big girl bed has been a hit ever since! She’s only crawled out twice in over a week, not bad.

Ellie prefers playing in bed instead of napping but the naps were getting slim about a month ago anyway. This girl logs a solid 11-12 hours of sleep per night so I guess a nap isn’t all that necessary. She stays in her bed for a good 45 minutes during “nap” so at least she is getting some down time during the day and I get e-mail time!

This is a tough week for some heart friends of ours. Please say prayers for two of Ellie's little buddies that will be having surgery in Iowa City. Jordan is having her open-heart surgery today and Logan will be undergoing surgery on Thursday. Both of these kiddos are three, not a fun age for hospitalization let alone open-heart surgery. Pray for the surgeons to be guided, for the families to have strength, and for Jordan & Logan to have smooth, fast recoveries. We love you guys!

On a side note, I have decided to join the Usborne Books & More team. I will be selling these really bright, fun and educational books online or at home book parties. The baby board books are simply adorable and the older kids books have great stories & info in them with vivid illustrations. There are so many other fun kits and project books in the catalog. Hopefully it goes well, I’ll try it out for a few months and cross my fingers that it is successful. If you would like to earn lots of free books for the children in your life or know someone who might let me know and I can book a party for you! You can view my online bookstore to make a purchase, set up a party or enter your e-mail for a chance to win $50 in free books! @ My Usborne Books Page

I leave you with this hilarious pic of Ellie “going to work”. She’s always going to work! She makes sure to tell us, “Ok, I’m going a work. See ya! Bye! Love you.” As she is either stealing our keys or trying to get herself ready to go outside. Never a dull moment.

  5. LOVE the bed!! And Ellie helping to assemble it, so adorable. It's great that she took to her new bed so quickly. When Grace was on her way we also made the "BIG" changes one at a time for Emily. Ellie is such a sweet little girl, she's going to make a great big sister!

We always look forward to the udpates! Best wishes.
